Annual Events

No matter when you visit St. Petersburg, you’re sure to find an event or festival to make all ages and interests happy. The city hosts more than 1,000 events, many of them along the beautiful waterfront parks, such as Ribfest, the Firestone Grand Prix, the St. Anthony’s Triathlon and the Mainsail Arts Festival.

Shine Mural Festival

SHINE is an art project that illuminates the power of art in public spaces by revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue and uniting our community—while cultivating new standards of artistic excellence and reflecting St. Petersburg’s creative and vibrant spirit.

Block Party

Don’t miss the popular First Friday Music Series, when several downtown streets close from 5:30-10 p.m. on the first Friday of each month for one of the biggest after-hours block parties in the southeast featuring music, drinks and dancing.

Architectural Tours

Take a walking tour of Historic Downtown on the first Saturday of the month from October to April to see outstanding architecture from the city’s early years, such as the Snell Arcade and the Open Air Post Office. Tours are also offered of historic Kenwood’s Craftsman Bungalows, among others. 727-824-7802.

Saturday Morning Market

Shop with the locals at the Saturday Morning Market, the largest one day-a-week open-air fresh market in the Southeast. This Euro-style, dog friendly market offers fresh local produce, delicious prepared food, flowers, artisan gifts, live music, and more. Saturdays, downtown from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 727-455-4921.

Go Retro

For something different, check out the 1920s-era St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, which during its heyday had nearly 5,000 members. Each Friday, St. Pete Shuffle happenings often combine free live music with family-friendly action on the courts. Another event with vintage appeal is the afternoon “tea dance” held the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the St. Petersburg Coliseum, a vintage 1924 ballroom with one of the nation’s largest dance floors — 13,000 square feet of polished oak (727-892-5202).
